Along with his duties for Branch 25, Dan has served the NALC in multiple roles in past joint route inspection processes, including as the District Lead Team Member in the CDRAP and TIAREAP.
Dan completed Step B training in 2016 and has served in a backup role for the Northern New England Step B Team from 2016-2022. Dan was selected by President Fred Rolando to be part of Class 21 of the NALC Leadership Academy and graduated in 2016.
Gilbert Paredes -

Gilbert began his postal career in Utah in 2017 as a PSE. In 2018, he transitioned to a mail handler position, where he worked until 2019. After a brief hiatus, Gilbert moved to Massachusetts and began his career as a letter carrier in Salem in 2021. By the end of that year as a CCA, he became the Steward in Salem.
In 2022, Gilbert was appointed as a Trustee for Branch 25, a role he fulfilled diligently until 2024. In May of that year, Branch President Dan Wheeler appointed him Vice President of Branch 25, entrusting him with even greater responsibilities. Gilbert further enhanced his skills by completing Formal A training in September 2022, allowing him to represent members outside of Salem in Gloucester, Marblehead, and Peabody.
Outside of his work with the Postal Service, Gilbert is passionate about sports and traveling. A dedicated Red Sox fan, Gilbert is a season ticket holder.
Paul Desmond -
Executive Vice President
Paul assumed the role of Executive Vice President of Branch 25 in January 2011. Prior to becoming Executive Vice President, Paul had served for eleven years as Vice President. He began his tenure as an officer of Branch 25 in the early 1990's, serving two terms as Sergeant at Arms. Paul began his postal career in January of 1988 as a PTF letter carrier in Winchester.
In 1993, he became the Shop Steward for the Winchester office and shortly thereafter he became an Area Representative for Branch 25, meeting on grievances in several offices at the then Step 2 level. In 2000, then President of Branch 25 Randy Keller recognized Paul's talents and sent him to Cornell University to attend an arbitration advocacy program. Paul has been a Local Business Agent for Region 14 since then, and has presented cases at arbitration throughout all of the New England Region.
Prior to any of the Alternative Route Adjustment Programs, Paul was one of only 11 NALC representatives to serve on a task force that would lead to the creation of the first "Interim Alternative Route Adjustment Process." When the Joint Alternative Route Adjustment Process was implemented, Paul was selected to serve as a District Evaluation and Adjustment Team Member. Paul believes that Branch 25 is well prepared to take on the ever-changing environment in the Postal Service with a well-informed membership, and a well-trained core of stewards and officers.
